This month’s holiday is one that is near and dear to my heart. Although all my dog friends and siblings LOVE coming to daycare, there is another option for dog parents when it comes to their pup’s happiness, exercise, and (most importantly) potty breaks - dog walkers! And September 8 just so happens to be National Dog Walker Appreciation Day!
Having a dog walker come to your home for a midday walk or multiple visits each day is an excellent alternative to doggy daycare. Some dogs don’t qualify to go to doggy daycare or sometimes they just need a quick potty break instead of being gone from home all day. Whatever the situation is, dog walkers are a very important option for dog parents to consider. Actually, 85 percent of pet parents say hiring a dog walker is equally important to hiring a nanny!
Every day, dog walkers bring joy and fresh air (and potty breaks) to their four-legged friends across the country. And in doing so, they also really help out for pet parents. They work in the rain, sleet, and snow, and today is the day to celebrate them and recognize their hard work!
National Dog Walker Appreciation Day is an officially recognized observation for the men and women who walk millions of miles each day, exercising and entertaining mankind's furry, four-legged friends. Dog walkers everywhere deserve a little extra gratitude today.
Picking up poop is just one part of a dog walker's job. Everyone has a special story about the dog walker who rushed across town to let the dog out when its owner got stuck at work, or who watered the plants and fed the fish. Dog walkers go above and beyond the call of duty every day. Yet, most people have no idea how demanding the job is. National Dog Walker Appreciation Day gives walkers the long-overdue spotlight they've earned.
The Hipster Hound is pretty focused on doggy daycare, boarding, and grooming, but my mom, Tonya, and the trained staff are an EXCELLENT source to provide any dog parents with a recommendation for a dog walker - reputable companies, insured, experienced, can provide references. Just stop on by either location or call with any dog walking questions!
So on behalf of me and all dogs everywhere, thank you for what you do — for dogs AND their humans!
Woof,
Rex, The Original Hipster Hound
